I've been to Holbrook to visit with Christine and Pete and to get my hair cut. It was a fun trip and was nice and cool up there. One day we went up to ShowLow and Lakeside to shop. We picked up Kenneth on the way thru Snowflake and had a nice ride. It was really green in the mountains and rained while we were having lunch. Lovely! We ate at a place named Darby's, great food. It was nice to visit with both my sister, Christine, and Pete, but also with Ken.
It is sad to see Holbrook, it is just going down and down all the time. Saw quite a few people I knew at church but none just out around town. I think I've been gone too long to remember very many.
Both the ride up and back were beautiful, everything is so green, thanks to the rain we have recieved all over the state. Christine came back with me and we boht enjoyed the green grass and sunflowers. However it is great to be back home. It'll be nice to sleep in my own bed. I miss this hot, and I do mean hot, valley when I am gone very long.

Glad your home Mom and you had a nice trip. Love you.
I miss the White Mountains. My kids will think it is crazy, but I also miss the cedar trees. I grew up there....so their like old friends to me. I do not however miss Holbrook. Sand, sand, and let's see...more sand. I'm sure you miss the good times there, but like you said, it has just died all but for a few hotels and such.
I miss the White Mountains also. I don't miss Mom going outside in her pj's to talk to her old friends Mrs. Hopechest, Rowboat, Antimoth, and Al Gore. These were her "friends" the cedar trees. I could see talking to them. I could even see naming them, but dressing them, was just weird.
Bryan- craziness runs in the family...
case in point...Grandma enjoyed visiting Holbrook. That's just silly. Even the people who live there don't enjoy visiting Holbrook.
And the genetics trickle down to Mom. I have to agree that the dressing of her friends, the cedar trees, was bizarre. But what I thought was weird were the pictures she would take with them. Remember the scrapbook of her and Mrs. Hopechest when she uprooted her and took her to Disneyworld with her? That was just craaaazy!
The good news is that it's already hit our generation. It's clearly Nolan who is the crazy one. We dodged a bullet there!
Wow that was close! Your right Lisa, Nolan got the crazy. Glad I didn't catch it. By the way did you see that purple cows are making it back from the extension list?
